StickJoe – When Inclusion Takes Shape
Johnny Steiner, known as “StickJoe” in Switzerland, represents embroidery at the highest level. Yet for him, embroidery is more than decoration – it is communication.
As one of the pioneers in the region, he uses the BasePac Braille option to make textiles readable for everyone.
My ambition has always been to offer solutions that make a genuine difference. With certified Braille embroidery, we give people with visual impairments a measure of independence back – directly on a sleeve or a hotel towel.

Why StickJoe Relies on ZSK & BasePac
- Precision without compromise: Through his cooperation with ZSK, Johnny delivers Braille dots that precisely comply with the specifications of the World Blind Union.
- Local security: Johnny values the stability of the local BasePac installation. In his Swiss operation, the machines must run – independently of cloud servers or internet connections.
- Innovative spirit: Whether professional clothing for social institutions or exclusive hospitality projects – StickJoe demonstrates that inclusion is a profitable and valuable business model.
By combining craftsmanship with the world’s only certified Braille software, StickJoe is setting new standards for textile labelling in Switzerland.

Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
Differentiate yourself from the competition. Certified embroidered Braille is a technical highlight that builds trust with institutional clients.
High Value Creation
Specialised embroidery services achieve significantly higher margins than standard logo applications, as they provide a functional solution for legal or social requirements.
FAQ – Key Information on Braille Embroidery & ZSK Technology
What is ring buffer operation on ZSK embroidery machines?
The ring buffer is a digital memory area within the control unit of the ZSK machine. The software (BasePac) automatically fills this buffer with the next embroidery jobs. As soon as one job is completed, the next moves up in the queue. This enables continuous production without manual loading times and optimises workflow in industrial operations.
Do I have to create the Braille dot pattern manually?
No. The BasePac module performs the “translation” automatically. You simply enter the text via the keyboard as usual, and the software generates the correct WBU-compliant dot pattern.
Why is certification by the World Blind Union (WBU) important?
Braille is only effective if the spacing and height of the dots are precisely defined. The technique originally developed by Kampmann Embroidery was reviewed by the WBU to ensure that the embroidered dots are fully legible for people who are blind.
Is Braille embroidery wash-durable?
Yes. Unlike printed methods, embroidered Braille remains dimensionally stable and tactile even after industrial washing cycles. This makes it ideal for rental laundry and professional clothing.
Can I use the Braille option on any ZSK machine?
Yes. In combination with the BasePac software, all modern ZSK embroidery machines can process these data. The precision of the ZSK drive systems ensures exact placement of the tactile dots.
